ABOUT US

Science For is a small, multi-disciplinary team with the experience and skills to meet your needs. We work with people of all ages and backgrounds, adapting our approach to fit each learner. We are passionate about introducing beginners to the wonders of science and providing enrichment to fellow science enthusiasts.

Meet our co-presidents, Megan and Veronica:

Megan Boettcher

With graduate degrees in both Physics and Science Education, Megan brings research and pedagogical expertise to the team. Over the past 25 years, she has designed and taught science outreach programs — ranging from animal encounters to explosions, genetics to ethnobotany, and engineering to meteorology — at a wide variety of institutions.

She’s also spent the past two decades teaching college Physics and Astronomy to future scientists, healthcare professionals, and engineers. Megan loves to pack up fascinating things and bring them into her community to share with anyone curious.

Outside of teaching, she enjoys scuba diving, experimental cooking, making things, and hanging out with her pet snake. But more than anything, she loves learning — just about anything.

Veronica Wahl

Veronica loves nature—and learning how people interact with it. A lifelong environmentalist, she studied animals, plants, and ecosystems in university, then used those skills to research frogs, turtles, and snakes in the wetlands around Toronto.

Her research led to new questions, which brought her to UBC for a PhD in Resource Management and Environmental Studies and a career in urban ecology. Since then, she’s taught outreach programs about ecology and environmental science and led citizen science research projects.

For fun, Veronica paints, knits, goes on adventures, and reads more than just about anyone.
